Toss the ball into the air (use one hand) and approach with two or three steps. Contact the ball with your arm fully extended and make sure it goes over the net. Aim deep into the court. Once you’re able to serve 10 in a row over the net and into the court, take a few steps back and start the process over again.
To jump serve a volleyball, start by standing 2-3 feet behind the back line since you’ll want to throw the ball high and step to the line to gain momentum for your jump. Next, look at how the opposing players are positioned so you can aim your body and serve toward the empty spaces.

Hold the ball low, with your opposite hand down near your waist. You should have the same foot forward as the side of the hand holding the ball. For example, a right-handed player will hold the ball in their left hand and their left foot will be forward. This is important for having balance and generating power.
One way I’ve found to get them moving in the right direction is by having them work with a towel against a wall. Tie a knot in the end of a bath towel. Have the player hold the other end in their hitting hand. Have them face the wall, then do their arm swing.
